The qualifying marks in the UGC NET exam depend on your category:
General Category: You need to score at least 40% in both Paper I and Paper II to qualify. This translates to a minimum of 120 marks out of 300 in the total exam.
OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PWD/Transgender Category: You need to score at least 35% in both Paper I and Paper II. This translates to a minimum of 105 marks out of 300 in the total exam.
It’s important to remember that these are the minimum qualifying marks for appearing in the list of qualified candidates. However, securing a position for Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) requires scoring significantly higher than the qualifying marks. Only the top 6% of candidates in each subject are shortlisted for these positions based on their exam scores.
